📜 Chain Breaker Lyrics
### Verse 1
If you’ve been walking being the same old road for miles and miles
If you’ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies
If you’re trying to fill the same old holes inside
There’s a better life, there’s a better life
### Chorus
If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost, He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving, He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker
### Verse 2
We’ve all searched for the light of day in the dead of night
We’ve all found ourselves worn out from the same old fight
We’ve all run to things we know just ain’t right
And there’s a better life, there’s a better life
### Chorus
If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost, He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving, He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker
### Bridge
If you believe it, if you receive it
If you can feel it, somebody testify
If you believe it, if you receive it
If you can feel it, somebody testify
### Chorus
If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost, He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving, He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker
### Outro
Oh, if you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker.

📖 The True Story Behind “Chain Breaker”
Before Zach Williams became a Christian music icon, he was the lead singer of a secular Southern rock band touring across the United States and Europe.
The Downward Spiral:
For years, Zach lived the destructive “rock and roll” lifestyle—battling severe drug addiction, heavy drinking, panic attacks, and the near-collapse of his marriage. He felt completely bound by his habits, believing he was too broken for God to ever forgive.
The Miracle on a Tour Bus in Spain (2012):
In 2012, during an 8-hour drive across Spain on a European tour, Zach sat in the back of the bus feeling depressed, sick, and empty.
Out of nowhere, the Spanish bus driver started scanning through local FM radio stations. The radio suddenly locked onto an English station playing **“Redeemed” by Big Daddy Weave**:
> *“All my life I have been called unworthy… But I am redeemed, You set me free, so I’ll shake off heavy chains…”*
Those words pierced Zach’s soul. He broke down in tears on the bus. In his hotel room that night, Zach fell on his knees, called his wife Crystal back in Arkansas, and said: *“I’m done. I’m quitting the band, coming home, and turning my life over to Jesus.”*
### Writing the Anthem in Nashville:
After stepping away from rock music and serving as a local church worship leader in Arkansas, Zach sat down in Nashville with songwriters Mia Fieldes and Jonathan Smith. When they asked about his testimony, Zach told them how Jesus broke every chain in his life.
Within hours, they wrote the iconic declaration: *“If you’ve got chains, He’s a chain breaker.”*
